Nonotuck Hosts Entrepreneur Carol Moore Cutting
Nonotuck Resource Associates, Inc. was honored to recently host Carol Moore Cutting, President, CEO and Owner of WEIB 106.3 FM, a smooth jazz/ soul radio station serving the Springfield area. Cutting, a businesswoman, entrepreneur, and community leader, attended as a guest of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee, in celebration of Black History Month.
Cutting spoke eloquently of her experience growing up in the rural, segregated South, eventually earning her Master’s Degree and settling in Springfield, founding WEIB over the course of many years. Today, she is the only local commercial radio station owner, the only female FM radio station owner in Massachusetts, and the Only FM or AM Black owned radio station owner in all of New England.
Cutting closed the session with profound advice on realizing ambitions. “Set your goal, and set it higher than you or anyone else would expect. Like who would expect this girl who grew up in Livingston, Alabama, who in fact worked really hard, who would expect Carol Moore Cutting to be able to go through all of that for the community? It’s because I didn’t allow what other people thought to hamper what I was doing,” she says. “Success is determined by where you started and how far you’re able to go. I would encourage people to not worry about what other people say or think, whatever your dream is, you go for it. You keep on pushing.”
