Nonotuck Gathers to Honor MLK, JR.

The Nonotuck community recently gathered to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by watching and discussing several videos that give insight into Dr. King’s history and philosophy.

“National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis – Patrick Dockry Health Beauty Life” explored Dr. King’s assassination, including a visit to the sight where it happened, as well as dissecting modern theories about the killing.

“Martin Luther King on the Nergo and the American Promise” featured Dr. King appearing on Boston Television Producer Henry Morgenthau III’s “The Negro and the American Promise,” where he discusses his philosophy of nonviolence.

Event participants reflected upon the videos, as well as Dr. King’s words, including their broader historical and contemporary effects. Nonotuck President/CEO George H. Fleischner hopes these words continue to resonate: “May the echoes of Dr. King’s teachings inspire us to help foster a world of justice, equality, civility, kindness, and compassion,” he says.
