Kathleen T. "Kitty" Kelly-Curtin Obituary

Kitty CurtinKathleen “Kitty” Kelly-Curtin, devoted mother and friend, passed away on July 8th, 2023 with her life partner by her side.  She was born May 28th, 1964 to John T. and Flora Kelly.

Kitty is survived by her life partner, George Fleischner and her children Devin, Dillon and Dillion’s wife, Alicia. In addition, she leaves her four brothers: Gerald Thomas Kelly and his wife Ann of Lenox, Bob Kelly and his wife Kathi of Pittsfield, Kevin Joseph Kelly and his wife Patricia Belden of Boston and Matthew Martin Kelly of Lee; two sisters: Mary Horton and her husband Chris of Pittsfield and Suzanne Kelly Salinetti of Lee along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a large network of family and friends. In addition to her parents, John T. and Flora Kelly, she is predeceased by her brother James Lawrence Kelly and his wife Patricia and her nephew Ryan Kelly.  Kitty also became embedded in the lives of George’s family, sharing many memorable moments with his daughter Jannelle, her husband John, and their children, Meadow and Aiden (Lenox Dale), as well as George’s son, Grayson, and his wife Laura (Easthampton). 

Kitty grew up in Lee, Massachusetts and graduated from Springfield Technical Community College, Berkshire Community College, Maria College and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts. She was a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree, and held a Massachusetts educator’s license to teach practical nursing.

Kitty also took great pride in her work at Nonotuck Resource Associates, where she served as a shared living caregiver for 26 years and an employee for 17 years. She began as a part-time nurse and, over the years, steadily moved up to become an Executive VP of Operations. One of the most important parts of her life was the 26-year shared living journey with Daniel “Danny” J. MacDonald.

Kitty discovered a love for golf later in her life and became a member at New Seabury Country Club in Mashpee, MA.  She and her life partner, George, cherished long drives through Cape Cod and the Berkshires, embracing the beauty that surrounded them and every moment they shared together.

Kitty found solace in her religion, comfort by the ocean, and pure joy when she was taking care of others.  She had a keen eye for thrift store gems a knack for repurposing almost anything.  She was beloved by the children in her life who she doted on and would play with for hours on end.  Kitty thrived in her role as Grandma for Blair, Meadow, and Aiden.

Kitty touched the lives of many people with her love, kindness, and compassion. Her loved ones are comforted knowing that she is reunited with her parents, her brother James and his wife Patricia, her nephew Ryan, and Danny.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 13, 4:00-6:00 pm at Kelly Funeral Home in Lee, MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 14, at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church in Lee, MA. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery will follow.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may send a check made out to Nonotuck Resource Associates Gift Fund, in Kitty’s memory, to the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
