Greetings from George: September 2024

Dear Nonotuck Community,

September is here, and we’re excited to celebrate many milestones and important initiatives together.
Last month, in recognition of National Civility Month, we took the opportunity to reflect on two of the most essential values that guide our organization: kindness and civility. You can read the staff responses about the importance of kindness and civility (and share your own) through the link below.

Looking ahead, from September 15 to October 15, we're celebrating Latinx Heritage Month, a time to recognize the rich history, culture, and contributions of the Latinx community. This month honors the independence days of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, which all celebrate on September 15, as well as Mexico on September 16 and Chile on September 18. We encourage everyone to engage in learning more about the stories and traditions of Latinx people and how they continue to shape and strengthen our diverse communities.

Additionally, I would like to once more warmly invite you to the dedication of our Lee office in memory of Kathleen “Kitty” Kelly-Curtin. The dedication ceremony will take place during Founders Day Weekend in Lee on September 21 at 9:00 a.m., at 14 Park Place. This historic building, formerly known as the Bosworth House, will be renamed in honor of Kitty, whose profound and lasting contributions to Nonotuck and the Lee community continue to inspire us all.

Kitty’s legacy includes founding our Adult Family Care program, serving as a Shared Living caregiver for 26 years, and dedicating 17 years to Nonotuck, most recently as Executive Vice President of Operations.

Her unwavering passion for helping others continues to inspire us all.
We hope you can join us in celebrating Kitty’s life and the lasting impact she had on our community. We hope you'll be there with us to celebrate; if not, we invite you to share your memories of Kitty below.

Warm regards,
George
