Native American Heritage Month: Explore the Lands We Live On

Throughout November and into December, Nonotuck will be honoring Native American Heritage Month (NAHM). We will have many opportunities for learning, connecting, reflecting, and celebrating, and will be diving into Native American history and culture as well as many of the issues that Indigenous People face today. We have so much to share with you this month so be sure to keep your eyes open!

A powerful exercise that we can all do is to learn about and honor the Indigenous People whose land we live on today. Here is a beautiful interactive tribal map where you can enter your address and see the name of the tribe who tended the land where you live. From there you can do some research and learn more. Many tribes were forcefully removed from their lands and much healing can come from acknowledging those who came before us. Please send us a note about what you learn so we can create a Nonotuck map!!
