Darlyn began her career in the Human Services field as a residential counselor supporting people with disabilities. She decided to continue this career path and graduated from Fitchburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, while still working one-on-one with persons with disabilities. This experience served as the foundation for the different roles she’s had at Nonotuck as Care Manager, Assistant Program Director, and now Program Director overseeing a team of amazing Human Service professionals and supporting a wonderful group of members at the Harvard Office. In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors with family and friends.
Eva Beland

Since beginning her journey in the Human Services field in 2008, Eva has been motivated by a strong desire to help others and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Eva was drawn to Nonotuck by the organization’s commitment to its morals and its transparent organizational culture.
Her hobbies outside of work include spending quality time with her son, painting, rollerskating, and reading.
One of Eva’s favorite quotes is by Wayne Dyer: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” This philosophy resonates with her approach to life and work, highlighting her ability to see potential and positivity in every situation.
Irene Obutu

Irene “Naomy” Obutu has been in the Human Service field since 2011, and working with Nonotuck since 2023. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, and even worked in a lab for some time. Ultimately, she found herself craving more direct and meaningful interactions with people, so she returned to the human services field through Nonotuck.
Outside of work, she enjoys listening to gospel music, singing, event planning, home decor, and taking care of her family.

Jim graduated from Virginia Tech in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and minor in psychology. He included coursework in biological psychology, ethology (animal behavior from the biological standpoint) and psychobiology (animal behavior from the psychological standpoint). He began work in the field of developmental disabilities and has sustained that track for 34 years. He was awarded his master’s degree in clinical/experimental psychology from Radford University in 1984. After earning his master’s, Jim secured a series of positions as a psychologist, first at a training center for the intellectually disabled in Virginia, then at Fernald State School in Massachusetts, as a clinician and therapist for Mentor in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as a therapist for Human Resource Institute in Malden, Massachusetts, and consultant for Vinfen Corporation in Cambridge. He began employment with Nonotuck in January 2003 as clinician, with duties including clinical assessment, consultation, client assessment and evaluation, client counseling, staff, provider and family consultation and counseling. The fit for Jim with Nonotuck has been nearly ideal as it embraces his clinical skills and matches his values toward a complete life focus for serving our people. He is skilled in individual and group therapy. His strengths therapeutically are cognitive-behavioral, rational emotive and client-centered. His skills in clinical assessment include I.Q. testing, personality assessment, and applied behavioral analysis. He is knowledgeable in psychotropic medications and medication and behavioral treatment plan development and analysis. Jim is valuable to staff, clientele, family members, etc. in situational analysis, problem diagnosis, developing clinical interventions and strategies.
Lauren Webb

Lauren Webb started at Nonotuck Resource Associates, Inc. (and the human services field) in 2023. She brings a lifelong desire to advocate for others, as well as caring and empathy to Nonotuck. She was attracted to Nonotuck by our values and mission.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching hockey, and spending time with her two children and family.
Michelle Call, RN BSN

Michelle was inspired to become a nurse while working at one of the original Adult Day Health Programs in Worcester where she worked with the elderly and people with developmental disabilities. She has been a nurse for over 38 years having worked in the hospital, clinics, doctor’s offices and over the past 18 years has worked in Human Services. One of her favorite childhood memories is playing with her friend who lived across the street who she called “Aunt Pauline”. Aunt Pauline was a lot older than Michelle, but loved to play ball, cards, laugh and have fun with her. Aunt Pauline, who just happened to have Down Syndrome, taught Michelle friendship, love, patience and understanding at a very young age (4 years old).
Michelle has lived in Worcester her entire life and is grateful for her family and friends. She is known as being older than dirt, being over a 100 years old and a dinosaur, she loves to laugh, and requires a lot of patience when working with any electronic devices.
Michelle was drawn to Nonotuck because of its values and mission. Mutual respect, love and authenticity is what she had been looking for and finally found it here at Nonotuck.
Patti Ruch

Patti has been working in human services since 2007. She became interested in this field of work after working in a residential treatment program as part of her studies in college and immediately pursued a career in human services after she graduated. She was drawn to work at Nonotuck after researching the agency and feeling that it would be a good fit for her based on a commonality of core values.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her son, enjoying outdoor time, and running 5k races.
Thomas Carey

Thom Carey grew up one of three children in Pepperell, Massachusetts. He earned a Human Services degree from Mount Wachusett Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Fitchburg State University, graduating Cum Laude.
He has worked in human services since 2014, filling a variety of positions for Massachusetts nonprofits before coming to Nonotuck in 2021. He was attracted to working at Nonotuck by our unique shared living model.
He lives in Townsend, MA with his wife and three children. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching youth sports, playing softball, and watching Boston sports.
